Energy-efficient, High-performance Servers at Value Prices Keep Codero Moving Forward in Green Leadership Role

Updating power supplies results in 25-30% energy reduction.
Overland Park, Kan. - Further embracing the need to be green, Codero recently decreased power consumption in its data center by putting more energy-conscious power supplies in place for all of its servers. Pallets of power supplies are currently being provisioned with a third of the Phoenix, Arizona data center completed and running on this more efficient power; any new servers will receive these greener power supplies by default. The decrease in power consumption will assist the company in offering customers high-performance servers at value prices while also lessening environmental impact.
The demand for IT capacity across the world is on the rise and with that increase comes more carbon emissions. The IT industry is responsible for about 2% of the world’s carbon emissions, according to a Pike Research report, and the fastest growing part of that footprint is data centers. Codero already offers green hosting through its purchase of renewable energy credits (REC) to power every server. All the RECs purchased by Codero have been registered and verified by Green-e which created a Case Study about Codero’s green endeavors.
“Codero is committed to sustainable business practices and reducing our energy consumption. Aside from our REC purchase and switching to more efficient servers, we continue to investigate greener, energy-saving alternatives in many areas of operations,” said Taylor Giddens, Director of Dedicated Services.
