Just how green is Cloud? We compiled the latest statistics to find proof that Cloud is indeed an energy-saving hosting option. With the debut of Cloud Hosting from Codero, we wanted to let you know all the advantages our new on-demand offering holds. Codero Cloud is offered by the hour or by the month. It is elastic so you can use as much or little as you want at any given time on demand and respond quickly to rapid business fluctuations.

Much has been written and discussed about how Cloud computing will take over IT infrastructure in the next few years. But did you realize how eco-friendly Cloud really is?

See how Cloud stacks up as far as sustainability benefits. Check out the Cloud Infographic below.

What else will the years ahead bring? Other Gartner predictions include:

- By 2015, at least one G20 nation’s critical infrastructure will be disrupted and damaged by online sabotage. With its improved security, private cloud can help eliminate worries over cyber-sabotage. Forecasts call for a huge business migration to occur in the coming years to comprehensive data centers and predict cloud technologies will enable businesses to reduce costs and boost efficiencies by renting their IT on a pay-per-use-basis instead of maintaining or managing their own data. There won’t be a need for companies to create their own data centers when they can rely on the expertise of an industry professional whose sole business is IT.

- Forrester Research too, is on board the cloud bandwagon predictions for 2011 forecasting there will be a new type of IT provider who will work for the business and leverage technologies at the edge of the business to alter relationships, enhance customer support, create new products and bring value in ways one may not have imagined.

- By 2015, information-smart businesses will increase recognized IT spending per head by 60%. Plus, 20% of all companies will no longer own their own IT assets by 2012, Gartner predicts.

Other analysis services agree with all these predictions and add that sustainability will join security and cloud services as an important trend in enterprise IT in 2011.

In January of this year cloud computing was predicted as a web hosting trend for 2009. While a growing trend, confusion exists in the marketplace as to what exactly cloud computing is, so I sought out a quick and simple explanation for cloud computing, and how it affects the everyday person. Some of the sites/online tools I take advantage of utilize cloud computing. For example, when I log in to Facebook and upload pictures, they are stored in a cloud – same for when I access Google Docs to save or share files. Want to see a visual representation of cloud computing? We found a great video on CNN that explains the basics of cloud computing.

While cloud computing seems to be a fit for many social networking sites, it may not be for everyone. Companies tend to lean towards more traditional forms of hosting when a high level of security or control over their hosting environment is needed as seen in a recent tip on ITworld.

What do you see being a hosting trend for 2010? Let us know your thoughts!
